STILLWATER, Okla. - Yi Jui Lo picked up a singles win in the five spot, but the Cowboys proved to be too much and won the opening match of the season, 6-1, at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
 
Doubles
Neither of the teams' ranked doubles tandems played together, but the Cowboys lived up to their team ranking. They picked up two wins at No. 1 (6-2) and No. 2 (6-3) to grab the doubles point.
 
Stefan Latinovic and Luka Mrsic were paired on No. 3 and were up 4-3 when play was halted.
 
Singles
The Shockers played ranked competition in the 1-to-4 spots, but they were only able to force a third set in the 2 hole. Stefan Latinovic took an early lead against No. 61 Kellovsky with a strong first set. Kellovsky equalized in the second and eventually picked up the win in a back-and-forth third set, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Lo faced the Cowboys Scaglia in the five spot and never took his foot off the gas. Lo picked up his first win of the season, and the only WSU win on the night, in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-1.
 
Luka Mrsic performed well in his Shocker debut, as he forced a third set against OSU's Donnet. Mrsic won a tight first set, but Donnet was able to fight back and win in three, 5-7, 6-4, 10-3.

The Shockers host two matches on Saturday, January 16. They will face Oral Roberts at noon and Omaha at 4:00 p.m. at the Genesis Health Club on Rock Road.
