WICHITA, Kan. - Shocker softball returns to tournament action when they travel to Lawrence, Kan., to partake in the Rock Chalk Challenge where they will face Kansas City, Drake and host Kansas from March 6-8 at Rock Chalk Park. Both of the games against Kansas will be streamed on ESPN+.

Top of the Board
The Shockers are Top 30 in the nation in seven statistics (batting average (.326), doubles (37), doubles per game (1.76), double plays per game (.52), scoring (6.52), on-base percentage (.410), and slugging percentage (.519)) and Top 50 in one other (home runs per game (1.00)).

Sturdy Bookends
The first and last spots in the batting order have been consistent throughout the season for the Shockers.
Sydney McKinney has started in the leadoff spot and
Wylie Glover has done her due diligence at the nine hole every game. McKinney and Glover are first and second in batting average and have two of the highest on base percentages on the team.

Kansas City
Kansas City won a three-game series with Southeast Missouri State last weekend. They dropped the first game but won the remaining two to clinch the series. They also had a midweek matchup against No. 23/24 Missouri that they dropped, 11-0, in five innings. Amongst starters, senior catcher Chyanne Onstad leads the team in batting average (.359) and brings in the runs as she has three home runs and five RBIs. Sophomore RHP Kailyn Packard is the Roos leader in the circle. She has four wins with an ERA of 3.88 to go along with 30 strikeouts.

The two teams met at the UT-Arlington Invitational in 2017. Wichita State won both matchups against Kansas City.

Kansas
The Jayhawks enter the weekend after going 2-2 at the Reveile Classic in College Station, Texas. They won both of their games against Southeast Louisiana but lost twice to host Texas A&M. Redshirt sophomore catcher Shelby Gayre comes into the week with a team-high eight home runs on the season. That ranks her first in the Big 12 Conference and seventh in the country. Kansas primarily splits starts between freshman LHP Tatum Goff and senior RHP Hailey Reed. They are both 4-4 and Goff is the team's leader in ERA (5.36) and strikeouts (38).

In a meeting last season, the Shockers downed the Jayhawks, 11-10, at Wilkins Stadium.

Drake
Drake competed the OSU/Tulsa Invitational last week and went winless against strong competition: No. 11/9 Oregon, No. 14/12 Oklahoma State, UIC and Tulsa. Junior outfielder Macy Johnson is hitting a blistering .439 on the season and has driven in eight while senior infielder Sarah Maddox leads the team with three home runs and 18 RBIs. Junior RHP Nicole Timmons carries the seventh bets ERA in the nation (0.68) and has struck out 42 en route to a 4-1 record.
