GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Wichita State men's golf team finished play Sunday at the Gators Invitational on the University of Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course.
 
Zac Owens (76-69-73 – 217, +7) fired a third-round 73 to finish the weekend 7-over-par and tied for 37^th-place. A double-bogey on his final hole was all that separated the sophomore from a top-25 finish.
 
Owens' 10 birdies over the three rounds tied for tenth-most among the field of 84 individuals.
 
Dawson Lewis (73-73-75 – 221) tied for 52^nd.
 
Grayson Wallace (83-74-73 – 230) closed strong with a 73, matching Owens for the team's best Sunday round.
 
Joe Bultman (78-73-80 – 231) and Brock Polhill (76-78-79 – 231) rounded out the Shocker scorecard.
 
The field included seven nationally-ranked teams. WSU (302-289-300 – 891) finished in 15th-place -- eight strokes behind No. 39 UCF.
 
No. 31 Florida (828) won the team title, outdistancing 19^th-ranked Vanderbilt (846) and No. 36 USF (852).
 
Florida's Ricky Castillo (No. 46 in GolfStat's latest individual rankings) shot 13-under-par (197) over three rounds to win medalist honors ahead of West Virginia's Logan Perkins (205).
 
The Shockers will have another four weeks to practice before returning to action Friday and Saturday, Mar. 13-14 at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
