TEMPE, Ariz. - The Shockers won two singles courts, but 18th ranked Arizona State were too much for the Shockers to handle and they fell, 5-2, at the Whiteman Tennis Center on Friday.

Wichita State fell down early on courts two and three versus ASU. The court one matchup was an intriguing one between No. 54

Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and No. 55 Ilze Hattingh/Tereza Kolarova, but it went unfinished with a score of 5-4 in favor of the Sun Devils.

Singles
The Shockers got off to a quick start in the singles duals.
Sandra Honigova shutout Lauryn John-Baptiste in the first set on court four before going on to sweep the match, 6-0, 6-3. Lingwei Kong defeated her opponent in similar fashion on court three. This was the third time this season that WSU has won on two singles courts.

The Sun Devils picked up the pace after two singles losses. Their only ranked player, No. 29 Ilze Hattingh, set the pace with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court one. ASU went on to win the final four singles courts to close out the dual.
