DES MOINES, Iowa – The Wichita State men's tennis team found the top-three twice in singles, and once in doubles over the weekend at the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.

Orel Ovil had a very successful weekend in singles as he compiled a 3-and-1 record in flight A, defeating athletes from Northwest Missouri State University, 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4), Washburn University, 6-0, 6-1, and the University of Nebraska Omaha, 6-2, 6-3, on his way to a runner-up finish.

Alex Richards also found success, picking up his first three wins as a Shocker in singles flight B, defeating people from the University of North Dakota, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8), Gustavus Adolphus College, 6-2, 2-6, 10-3, and Drake University, 6-0, 6-4. to secure a third-place finish.

In doubles, the freshman pairing of Richards and
Zach Grueber snagged two wins over duos from Omaha, 6-2, and Northern Illinois University, 6-2, to claim third in flight A.

Sophomore
Stefan Latinovic came away victorious twice in singles against opponents from Omaha, 6-3, 6-3, and Creighton University, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (13-11), while Grueber obtained his first collegiate singles win against NWMSU, 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9).

The Shockers will be back in action on Friday, September 27, as they begin the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha, Neb.
