FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Zac Owens came within two shots of par on Monday to pace the Wichita State men's golf team through 36 holes at the Ram Masters Invitational.
 
Owens birdied four of his first nine holes to start the second round and climbed as high as seventh on the leaderboard before hitting a rough patch on the back-nine.
 
Owens (71-71 – 142) enters Tuesday's final round tied for 24^th. Teammate Dawson Lewis (71-73 – 144) is tied for 40^th at four-over-par.
 
WSU ranks 16^th in the team standings at +36 – five strokes ahead of Creighton and six back from Cal Poly.
 
Host Colorado State shot a tournament record 15-under (265) in the second round to take a seven-stroke lead over Wyoming. A total of 11 golfers finished the day under par, led by event-leader Oskar Ambrosius (-7) of UTEP and Fresno State's Michael Cliff (-6).
 
Action resumes Tuesday morning. WSU golfers will start from the 10^th tee beginning with Grayson Wallace at 9:45 a.m. CT. Joe Bultman and Lake Leroux tee off together at 9:55 a.m., followed by Owens and Lewis at 10:05 a.m.
