ORLANDO – The Wichita State women's tennis team collected a 4-0 opening round victory over UConn Friday at the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship at the USTA National Campus.

The Shockers (14-9) used wins on the doubles courts and singles wins on courts one, two and six for the win.
DOUBLES
The Shockers got things started in doubles play with a 6-2 win on court one for No. 21-ranked
Fatima Bizhukova and
Marta Bellucco over Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph and Luciana Rabines. The Huskies responded on the No. 2 doubles court where Julieanne Bou and Mareille Moreau defeated
Esther Thebault and
Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva.
Alexandra Lazarova and
LingWei Kong teamed up in the third slot against UConn's Cassie Chung and Jacqueline Lazaro. The Shocker duo raced out to a 4-1 lead and never looked back, winning 6-3 to give WSU the doubles point for the third-straight match.

SINGLES
Bizhukova raced out to her fifth dual win of the season in the top slot with a dominating 6-0, 6-2 win over Fitz-Randolph to put the Shockers up 2-0.
LingWei Kong, who entered the lineup for the second time in the sixth flight, provided WSU with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rabines to up the Shocker advantage to 3-0. After rolling in the first set on court two,
Sandra Honigova reeled off her team-leading 11
th dual win over Bou with a 6-1, 7-6(1) win to clinch the 4-0 win for the Shockers.

Thebault trailed 2-1 in the third set after splitting set with Moreau on court No. 3. Bellucco took on Lazaro in the fifth slot and trailed 6-4, 5-3 before play was suspended. In the fourth slot, Saidhujaeva trailed Chung 6-4, 3-2 before going unfinished.
UP NEXT:
The Shockers advance to the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship for the second straight season, and will take on No. 4 seed Tulsa tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT.

The Shockers and Golden Hurricane met up just under a week ago in Wichita, with WSU coming out with a 4-3 win. WSU leads the all-time series with the Golden Hurricane, 24-16.

Tulsa is led by Martha Mathoula who is 17-2 in singles action and Vera Ploner, who holds a 14-5 record mainly in the third slot. In doubles, Ploner and Martina Okalova rank 17
th in doubles and hold a 13-4 dual match record.
