WICHITA, Kan. – Lauren Mills needed to see only two pitches before sending the game-winning home run over the right field fence Friday night in a 4-3 win over Kansas at Wilkins Stadium.
Bailey Lange got the start in the circle, going 3.2 innings and allowing no runs on three hits and a pair of strikeouts.
Erin McDonald finished the final 1.2 innings to record the win.
After going the first 3.2 innings without a hit, the offense broke through on the scoreboard thanks to an RBI single from
Bailee Nickerson and back-to-back RBI doubles from
Neleigh Herring and
Ryleigh Buck to make it 3-0.
KU tallied its first run on an RBI single in the top of the fifth, and would then tie the game at 3 in the top of the sixth behind a two-run double.
Mills' leadoff solo blast in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the game-winner.
