WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State men's tennis team welcomes Denver to town for its home opener, slated for Saturday (12 p.m.) at Genesis Health Club.

The Shockers (0-1) look to rebound after falling to No. 13 Oklahoma in their season opener (4-0) in Norman on Thursday.
Murkel Dellien and
Haru Inoue became the first Shocker duo to put one in the win column for the 2019 season, knocking off Alex Bakshi and Jochen Bertsch (6-1) in the second slot, before the Shockers dropped the doubles point in an intense season opener. Although WSU fell 4-0, they showed signs of toughness and resiliency, never backing down to the Sooners.
The Matchup
Denver opens the season at Wichita State, coming into the match picked No. 2 in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Pioneers are led by Ricardo Rubio, in his fourth season. Mattia Ros and James Davis, who were both named preseason athletes to watch, lead the Pioneers – who went 11-10 in 2018. Ros compiled an 11-9 record at the No. 1 slot. Davis, a Oklahoma transfer, went 3-1 for the Sooners last season and finished 12-7 in doubles play.
