WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State scored three runs in the first inning on the way to a 10-0 win over South Dakota State on Wednesday night at Eck Stadium.
Five Shocker pitchers combined for the shutout.
Starter
Jacob Lindemann pitched three shutout innings and allowed just one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
Liam Eddy went three innings, while
Codi Heuer,
Preston Minor and
Paxton Wallace each pitched a scoreless inning.
Greyson Jenista went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a double and a home run, while
Gunnar Troutwine,
Mason O'Brien and
Ross Cadena each drove in two.
Luke Ritter led off the first with a single and with one out
Alec Bohm walked.
Greyson Jenista followed with a walk and
Gunnar Troutwine's single scored Ritter and Bohm for a 2-0 Shocker lead.
Hunter Gibson's single loaded the bases and
Mason O'Brien's sacrifice fly scored Jenista to push the lead to 3-0.
Bohm led off the third with a walk and Jenista's eighth home run of the season put the Shockers up 5-0. After a Troutwine walk and Gibson single and stolen base, O'Brien's second sacrifice fly of the game scored Troutwine and Gibson scored on
Ross Cadena's sacrifice fly for a 7-0 Shocker advantage.
The Shockers added a run in the fifth on a RBI double by Jenista to make the score 8-0.
WSU added two more in the eighth on a RBI double by Cadena and RBI single from
Josh DeBacker for the final 10-0 score.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., May 11 when they host No. 22 USF for a three-game series. Game one is at 6 p.m. on Friday at Eck Stadium.
