WICHITA, Kan. – No. 22 USF evened the series with a 9-6 win over Wichita State in game two.
Hunter Gibson went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while
Luke Ritter,
Paxton Wallace and
Alex Jackson each had a RBI.
Starter
Tyler Davis went two innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
The Bulls jumped on the board in the first with three singles and a Shocker error to take a 2-0 lead.
The Shockers got one back in the bottom of the first.
Luke Ritter led off with a double to right-center and scored on a single by
Hunter Gibson to pull WSU within 2-1.
USF used three singles, a double and a home run to score five runs in the second and take a 7-1 lead.
The Shockers again answered in the bottom of the second.
Josh DeBacker's RBI single, Ritter's sacrifice fly and Gibson's RBI single each scored a run and the Shockers pulled within 7-4.
The Bulls added single runs in the third and the sixth to push the lead to 9-4.
A pinch-hit RBI double by
Paxton Wallace pulled WSU within 9-5 in the sixth and
Alex Jackson's first career home run made the score 9-6 in the eighth.
The Shockers and Bulls wrap up the series on Sun., May 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Eck Stadium.
