Finale With No. 22 USF Ends in 9-9 Tie

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State's series finale with No. 22 USF ended in a 9-9 tie due to conference travel curfew rules.
 
It is Wichita State's first tie since 1988 when Wichita State and Creighton tied 3-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference championship game due to rain.
 
Alec Bohm went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a home run, while Greyson Jenista went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double.
 
Starter Preston Snavely went one inning and gave up three runs on no hits with four walks and one strikeout. Relievers Alex Segal and Chandler Sanburn combined to throw six shutout innings with eight strikeouts.
 
The Bulls used two walks and two wild pitches to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
 
The Shockers answered in the bottom of the first. Luke Ritter led off with a single and Alec Bohm walked with one out. With two outs, Greyson Jenista doubled to right field to score Ritter and Bohm and give the Shockers a 2-1 lead. Ross Cadena singled to drive in Jenista and push the lead to 3-1.
 
USF went back in front in the second. The Bulls used three walks and three singles to score four runs and take a 5-3 lead.
 
David Villar's home run in the fifth gave the Bulls a 6-3 lead.
 
With one out in the fifth, Hunter Gibson was hit by a pitch and he scored on a triple from Bohm to cut the lead to 6-4. With two outs, Cadena singled to centerfield to drive in Bohm and pull WSU within 6-5.
 
The Bulls used four hits in the sixth to tack on three more runs for a 9-5 lead.
 
Jackson's RBI single in the seventh cut the lead to 9-6.
 
The Shockers tied it in the eighth. Ritter led off with a walk and scored on a two-run home run from Bohm to make the score 9-8. Gunnar Troutwine doubled and he scored on a single by Jenista to tie the game at nine.
 
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., May 15 when they host Kansas State for the last home game of the season. The Shockers and Wildcats play at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
