WICHITA, Kan. – UConn scored five runs in the top of the first to defeat No. 20 Wichita State 9-4 in game two of the series.
Gunnar Troutwine went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a double, while
Alec Bohm went 1-for-4 with a RBI.
Starter
Liam Eddy went 3.1 innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
UConn scored five runs in the top of the first on six hits.
The Shockers got a run back in the bottom of the first.
Luke Ritter led off with a single and
Greyson Jenista walked. They both advanced on a wild pitch and Ritter scored on a groundout from
Alec Bohm to cut the lead to 5-1.
Paxton Wallace led off the second with a triple to right field and scored on a wild pitch to pull the Shockers within 5-2.
Isaac Feldstein's two-run home run and Thad Phillips' solo shot gave UConn an 8-2 lead in the fourth.
The Huskies added one in the seventh and
Gunnar Troutwine's two-run double in the seventh made the score 9-4 UConn.
The Shockers and Huskies wrap up the series on Sun., April 15 at 1 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
