MANOA, Hawaii – Wichita State moved to 12-4 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Hawaii, Wednesday at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Shockers got on the board first in doubles play, with wins in the first and third flights. The tandem of Gabriela Porubin and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva teamed up to take down Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova (6-2) in the third flight. Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco battled Klara Pribylova and Nikola Dolakova to a tiebreaker in flight one, and came out a winner (7-6(6) to give WSU the doubles point. Ting-Ya Hsu and Giulia Guidetti were taken down by Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma in the second flight for just their first loss together this season.
 
The Shockers raced to three straight singles wins to go up 4-0 over the Rainbow Wahine. Bellucco squared off in the fourth flight with Pribylova and won in straight sets (6-3, 6-1). Sandra Honigova, who moved up four spots to No. 102 in the latest ITA Rankings took down Dolakova (6-3, 6-2) to improve to 12-2 on the season. Guidetti rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Hruba, before Hawaii got on the board with a win in the sixth flight. Resma defeated Alexandra Lazarova of Wichita State 6-4, 6-4 to make it 4-1 Shockers.
 
Porubin and No. 84 Bizhukova sealed the victory with wins in the fifth and first flights, respectively. The pair both both dropped their first sets, before rallying to win the final two sets and give the WSU the 6-1 lead.
 
The win evens the series to 1-1 with Hawaii all-time, and pushed its record to 12-4.
 
WSU will take on North Texas in Rancho Mirage on Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m.
