WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State men's tennis team dropped a home match to No. 22 Dartmouth, 4-3, Sunday at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
 
DOUBLES
Dartmouth grabbed the doubles point with wins in the second and third flights. In flight three, freshman Andrea Trapani earned his second doubles start, teaming with Eddie Stoica. The duo went at it with Max Fliegner and Peter Conklin, before falling 6-3. Playing in his last home match, Senior Miroslav Herzan and Andrea Caligiana paired up, and traded games with Roko Glasnovic and Casey Ross in the second flight. After forcing a tiebreaker, the duo fell short 7-6 to give Dartmouth the point. Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien, who rank 76th, were tied at six with 36th-ranked Charlie Broom and David Horneffer before going unfinished.
 
SINGLES
The Big Green came out strong in singles play, winning three in a row to take a 4-0 lead. Herzan dropped his match in flight four to Fliegner in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Dartmouth's Horneffer took down Dellien, 6-3, 6-4 in the third flight. Broom followed with a straight-set victory over Haru Inoue in the first flight.
 
The Shockers clawed back to win the final three matches in singles action. Frosa started the rally in the second flight, where he won (7-6(7), 6-4) over 119th-ranked Dan Martin. After Conklin and Caligiana split the first two sets, (6-4, 1-6), Caligiana came out on top to win the match. Stoica and Riccardi went through three tiebreakers in their match. Riccardi won the first one 7-6, while Stoica rallied to take the last two (7-6(4), 1-0(9) for the win.
 
Wichita State moves to 7-8 on the season and will travel to Houston to take part in the Rice Tournament next Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 24-25 at the Brown Tennis Center. The Shockers will face host Rice at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Texas A&M Corpus-Christi at 4 p.m. On Sunday, they will face VCU at 11 a.m. at the Brown Tennis Center.
