Shockers Defeat Creighton, 7-4

OMAHA, Neb. – Wichita State fought back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Creighton 7-4 and split the two-game series.
 
Luke Ritter went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a home run, while Paxton Wallace went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
 
Starter Liam Eddy went 2.2 innings and gave up three runs on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Reliever Cody Tyler earned the win going 2.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts.
 
The Shockers wasted no time getting on the board in the first. With one out and the bases loaded, Paxton Wallace drew a walk to score Luke Ritter and give the Shockers a 1-0 lead.
 
In the third inning, two walks and two hits led to three runs for the Bluejays to give them a 3-1 lead.
 
WSU answered in the fourth. Hunter Gibson led off with a walk and with one out, Ritter homered to left field to tie the score at three.
 
The Jays took the lead back in the fourth. Thomas Luevano led off with a walk and moved to third on a Shocker error. He scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Mantle to put CU up 4-3.
 
Wallace walked to lead off the fifth and moved to second on a one-out hit from Noah Croft. Jordan Boyer's two-out double scored Wallace to tie the game at four.
 
Greyson Jenista led off the sixth with a walk and moved to second on a single from Alec Bohm. Josh DeBacker bunted them over and Wallace singled to left field to score Jenista for a 5-4 lead. Jacob Katzfey's safety squeeze scored Bohm to push the lead to 6-4.
 
The Shockers added to the lead in the seventh with help from the Bluejays. Dayton Dugas led off the inning and reached second on a CU error. He advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ritter for a 7-4 lead.
 
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., March 20 when they host Oklahoma at 6 p.m.
