COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Missouri scored two runs in the first inning on the way to a 9-4 win over No. 20 Wichita State.
Dayton Dugas went 2-for-4 with a triple, while Mason O'Brien went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Starter
Preston Snavely went 2.2 innings and gave up three runs on two hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Mizzou wasted no time in the bottom of the first. Connor Brumfield led off with a single to centerfield and with one out, four-straight walks allowed two Tiger runs to score for a 2-0 lead.
A hit by pitch, wild pitch and single led to another Tiger run in the third for a 3-0 lead.
MU led off the fifth with a double and a Shocker error brought the runner home. The Tigers added on another run in the inning for a 5-0 lead.
With one out in the seventh,
Dayton Dugas tripled to right-center and scored on a groundout from
Noah Croft to cut the lead to 5-1.
The Tigers added two more in the seventh and two in the eighth to push the lead to 9-1.
Greyson Jenista walked to lead off the ninth and
Alec Bohm doubled to left field to put runners at second and third. Mason O'Brien singled to left-center to drive in both to cut the lead to 9-3.
Jordan Boyer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the final run.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 16 when they travel to Omaha, Neb., for a three-game series at Creighton.
