WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State earned a series victory with a 5-1 win over UT Arlington in game two of the series.
Jordan Boyer went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a home run, while
Gunnar Troutwine went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
Starter Liam Eddy went seven innings and gave up one unearned run on three hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
Jordan Boyer homered to lead off the third inning to give the Shockers an early 1-0 lead.
Mason O'Brien singled to lead off the fourth and moved to second on a groundout. With two outs,
Noah Croft singled through the left side to score O'Brien for a 2-0 Shocker lead.
The Mavs used some help from the Shockers to score in the fifth. With two outs, Josh Minjarez advanced to third on a Shocker error and scored on a double from Aaron Funk to cut the lead to 2-1.
Boyer led off the seventh with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Travis Young.
Greyson Jenista followed with a single to centerfield to score Boyer for a 3-1 lead.
The Shockers added to the lead in the eighth.
Luke Ritter led off with a double and
Dayton Dugas walked.
Josh DeBacker bunted both runners over and
Gunnar Troutwine doubled to right-center to drive in both for a 5-1 lead.
The Shockers and Mavericks wrap up the series on Sun., March 11 at 1 p.m.
