WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita State women's tennis team swept UT-Arlington and UMKC (4-0) Sunday at the Wichita Country Club to improve to 5-2 on the season.

FROM THE COACH
"Just a really clean performance start to finish.  Came out with really good energy and intensity in the doubles against UT-Arlington and just kind of kept our foot on the gas from start to finish. On some courts, the score line was fairly one-sided and at a few spots it got competitive. That's good for us, good to build confidence for everyone to get in the winner's circle. Friday's match made us a better team and I think today as well. We're excited for the challenges on the schedule going forward."

DOUBLES vs. UT-Arlington
The Shockers doubles duo of Ting-Ya Hsu and Giulia Guidetti knocked off Lucia Natal/Almudenza Boza in flight three (6-2) to give WSU the early advantage.
No. 23 doubles duo Fatima Bizhukova/Gabriela Porubin won 6-0 over Agustina Serio/Momoka Horiguchi in flight one to clinch the doubles point for the Shockers.

DOUBLES vs. UMKC
The Shockers earned their second victory of the day in doubles action, again winning in first and third flights. In the third flight, Hsu/Guidetti won 6-0 over Katie Fries/Thanushree Vale for their second win of the weekend in the third spot. In the first flight, Bizhukova teamed up with Bellucco to earn a 6-2 victory over Yana Grechkina/Melinda Johnson to give WSU the doubles point. Saidhujaeva/Porubin trailed Grace Ball/Aliona Ladutska in flight two, 4-3 before going unfinished.

Marta Bellucco/Sandra Honigova led 5-1 over Anna Wichert/Nanaka Takeuchi in the second flight before going unfinished due to the point being clinched.
SINGLES vs. UT-ARLINGTON
In singles, slots three through six started the match for the Shockers. Honigova recorded her second win of the weekend, knocking off Takeuchi in the third flight (6-1, 6-4). Freshman Alexandra Lazarova got the nod in the sixth flight, and won in straight sets over Carla Cerdan Vives (6-3, 6-1) to give the Shockers a 3-0 lead. Bellucco battled back to win the first set (7-5) over Almudena Boza, and won handily in the second set (6-0) to give WSU the match (4-0).

Porubin won the first set against Natal (6-2) in the fourth flight, and was tied 4-4 in the second set before going unfinished.
The first and second flights with Bizhukova/Serio and Guidetti/Horiguchi were not played due to match being clinched.

SINGLES vs. UMKC
Guidetti got things going for the Shockers in singles action, taking down Fries in straight sets while not giving up a point, 6-0, 6-0 in the second flight. Porubin knocked off Johnson in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) to give WSU 3-0 lead. Saidhujaeva knocked off Ball (6-1, 6-0) in the sixth flight to clinch the match for the Shockers, and give them the sweep. Lazarova and Vale were in the middle of a tiebreaker(6-6) when the match was unfinished.

Bizhukova/Ladutska in the first flight and Bellucco/Grechkina in flight four didn't play due to match being clinched.

UP NEXT: The Shockers return to action Saturday, Feb. 10 when they travel to Arkansas. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Billinglsey Tennis Center.
