No. 23 Shockers Sweep Duquesne

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 23 Wichita State hit .343 on the way to a 3-0 win over Duquesne at the Nike Classic. The Shockers (7-0) won by scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-11.
 
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with 11 kills and 13 digs and hit .579. Abbie Lehman added 10 kills and three blocks and hit .474. Emily Hiebert had 32 assists and eight digs, while Giorgia Civita had 15 digs.
 
"We had a few new wrinkles today and part of it was good, but we still need more first ball firepower from more places," said head coach Chris Lamb.
 
SET 1:
• Shockers run away with the first set 25-16
• Two kills from Abbie Lehman gave WSU an early 8-1 lead
• The Dukes used a 4-0 run to pull within 10-8
• The Shockers answered with a 6-0 run to go in front 16-8
• Kills from Hiebert and Lehman forced Duquesne to call timeout at 19-11
• A block from Hiebert and Abby Pugh gave the Shockers the 25-16 win

SET 2:
• WSU finished the set on a 9-0 run to win 25-15
• The set went back and forth until kills from Lehman and Raudsepp and a Civita service ace gave WSU a 13-10 lead
• The Dukes used a 4-0 run to tie it at 14
• Two kills from Raudsepp and two Shocker blocks forced the Dukes to use a timeout at 20-15
• Two more blocks, a Brown kill, a Mostrom service ace and a Pugh kill ended the set in a 25-15 win
 
SET 3:
• WSU opened the set with a 10-0 run and won 25-11
• Kills from Lehman and Raudsepp pushed the lead to 12-2
• The Dukes used a 4-0 run to pull within 13-7
• WSU answered with kills from Lehman and Hiebert for a 15-7 lead
• A 4-0 Shocker run gave WSU the 20-8 lead
• Lehman's kill ended the match at 25-11
