EUGENE, Ore. – No. 14 Oregon handed No. 23 Wichita State its first loss of the season at the Nike Classic. The Ducks won by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-12.
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with seven kills, while
Abbie Lehman had six kills.
Emily Hiebert had 18 assists and seven digs and
Giorgia Civita had 12 digs.
SET 1:
• Oregon closed the set on a 15-5 run to win 25-16
• A kill from
Mikaela Raudsepp gave the Shockers a 6-4 lead
• The Ducks took their first lead at 9-8, but WSU responded with a kill from Brown and a block from Lehman and Smith for a 10-9 lead
• With the Shockers up 11-10, the Ducks went on a 15-5 run to win the set 25-16
SET 2:
• Oregon jumped out to an early lead and held on for the 25-19 win
• The Ducks raced out to an 8-1 lead in the second set
• Oregon increased the lead to 21-7
• Shockers closed the set on a 12-4 run, but the Ducks finished it 25-19
SET 3:
• Oregon pulled away for a 25-12 win
• A Lehman kill and Hiebert/Wright block pulled WSU within 6-5
• Oregon used a 7-0 run to pull away at 21-8
