INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Wichita State (6-0) won its second-straight tournament with a 3-1 win over Miami (Ohio) at the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Shockers won by scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-13 and 27-25.
Tournament MVP
Tabitha Brown had a career-high 24 kills and added seven digs, while hitting .400.
Mikaela Raudsepp added 14 kills, while
Emily Hiebert had 47 assists and
Giorgia Civita had 15 digs.
Hiebert and Lehman were also named to the all-tournament team.
SET 1:
• Miami ends the set on a 9-3 run to win 25-21
• The Redhawks jumped out to a 7-4 lead after two-straight kills
• The Shockers used two kills from Brown and a
Gabi Mostrom service ace to take a 12-11 lead
• Two more kills from Brown put the Shockers up 16-13
• The Shockers led 18-16, but the Redhawks ended the set on a 9-3 run to win 25-21
• Brown had eight kills in the set for the Shockers

• The Shockers pulled away for a 25-16 win in the second set

Chase Jackson and a Jackson/Lehman block gave WSU a 12-9 lead
• A 4-0 Shocker run pushed the lead to 17-12
• Kills from Jackson and
Mikaela Raudsepp put WSU up 22-15
• Kills from
Brooke Smith and Lehman ended the set for a 25-16 win

• The Shockers ran away with the third set and won 25-13
• Two kills from Raudsepp gave WSU an early 6-3 lead
• A
Kara Bown service ace and Brown kill increased the lead to 13-5
• The Shockers ended the set on a 5-0 run to win 25-13
SET 4:
• The Shockers rallied for a 27-25 win in the fourth set
• The set went back and forth until the Shockers grabbed a 12-9 lead after a Redhawk hitting error
• Miami came back to tie it at 13 and the Redhawks took a 15-14 lead after a Shocker error
• A 3-0 Shocker run gave WSU an 18-16 lead, but Miami scored three-straight for a 20-19 lead
• The Redhawks used a kill and a service ace to reach set point at 24-22, but the Shockers tied it at 24 after two Redhawk miscues
• The Shockers used a Brown kill to reach match point at 26-25 and won 27-25 on a kill by Raudsepp
