WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State came from behind and defeated Oral Roberts 7-6 in 10 innings with a walk-off hit from
Greyson Jenista.
Travis Young went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two home runs.
Willie Schwanke was 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI.
Starter
Adam Keller went two innings and gave up one unearned run on three hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Dayton Dugas led off the game with a double and scored on a
Greyson Jenista single to give the Shockers a quick 1-0 lead.
A Shocker error led to an ORU run in the top of the second to tie the game at one and a Noah Cummings' two-out RBI single gave the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead in the third.
Sam Grellner's two-run home run increased ORU's lead to 4-1 in the fourth, but
Travis Young's two-run home run cut the lead to 4-3 in the sixth.
Brent Williams' solo home run pushed the Golden Eagle lead to 5-3 in the eighth, but the Shockers used a two-out rally to tie it in the eight. With two outs,
Jordan Boyer walked and Young hit his second home run of the game to tie it at five.
Grellner's second home run of the game gave ORU a 6-5 lead in the ninth, but the Shockers answered in the bottom half. With one out,
Alec Bohm singled and scored on a triple from
Willie Schwanke to tie the game at six.
In the 10
th, Boyer led off with a double to left-center. Dugas hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners for Jenista who hit a liner up the middle to walk it off for the Shockers.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., May 12 when they host Evansville at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
