OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton scored a run in the bottom of the 10th to defeat Wichita State 4-3 on Wednesday evening.
Alex Jackson went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while
Alec Bohm went 2-for-5 and
Trey Vickers went 2-for-4.
Starter
Keylan Killgore went 4.2 innings and gave up three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Shockers used some help from the Bluejays to take the lead in the second. With one out,
Trey Vickers and
Luke Ritter both walked and with two outs,
Jordan Boyer walked to load the bases.
Alex Jackson came through with a two-run single to left field to score both Vickers and Ritter to give the Shockers a 2-0 lead.
The Bluejays cut into the lead in the third. Jason Allbery led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Thomas Luevano to cut the Shocker lead to 2-1.
CU used a two-out hit to take the lead in the fifth. Allbery led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice. With two outs, Luevano walked and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Michael Emodi followed with a double to drive in both for a 3-2 Bluejay lead.
WSU rallied in the seventh. With one out, Boyer walked and
Travis Young pinch ran for him. Jackson's single moved Young to third and
Greyson Jenista's sacrifice fly tied the score at three.
Emodi led off the 10th with a double and scored on a single from Bryce Only to give the Bluejays the 4-3 win.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 28 against Illinois State at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
