SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State scored three runs in the first inning on the way to an 8-1 win over Wichita State in the final game of the series.
Alec Bohm went 3-for-4, while
Trey Vickers went 2-for-4.
Starter
Tommy Barnhouse went five innings and gave up four runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Hunter Steinmetz led off the first with a walk and Jake Burger followed with a single. After a double play, Blake Graham doubled to drive in Steinmetz for a 1-0 Bears lead. Aaron Meyer followed with a home run to put MSU up 3-0.
Dayton Dugas led off the fourth with a walk and moved to third on a single from
Alec Bohm. Dugas scored on a groundout from
Willie Schwanke to cut the lead to 3-1.
A two-out RBI single from Alex Jefferson pushed the Bear lead to 4-1 in the fourth and a two-out two-run single from Drew Millas made the score 6-1 in the seventh. The Bears added two more in the eighth for the final 8-1 score.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., April 25 at Creighton at 6:30 p.m.
