WICHITA, Kan. – Sacramento State scored a run in the top of the ninth to defeat Wichita State 3-2.
Luke Ritter went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a triple, while
Greyson Jenista went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Starter
Keylan Killgore went two innings and gave up one run on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
The Shockers jumped on the board in the first.
Jacob Katzfey led off with a single to left field and scored on a triple off the left field wall from
Luke Ritter for a 1-0 lead.
Greyson Jenista followed with a groundout to score Ritter to increase the lead to 2-0.
The Hornets answered in the second. James Outman led off with a double down the first base line and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. He scored on a sacrifice fly from Kody Reynolds to cut the lead to 2-1.
Sacramento State tied it in the sixth. PJ Floyd led off with a double and scored on a one-out single from Outman to tie the game at two.
With one out in the ninth, Ricky Martinez singled and moved to third on a ground-rule double by Trent Goodrich. After a strikeout and an intentional walk, pinch-hitter Devin Lehman walked to score Martinez to give the Hornets a 3-2 lead.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 24 against No. 3 Texas Tech at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
