TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts used five solo home runs to defeat Wichita State 7-4 on Tuesday night.
Jacob Katzfey went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while
Gunnar Troutwine went 2-for-3 with an RBI and
Alex Jackson went 2-for-4.
Starter
Tommy Barnhouse went 4.2 innings and gave up four runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Nick Roark's solo home run gave ORU an early 1-0 lead in the first and Cal Hernandez added his own home run to increase the lead to 2-0 in the third.
The Shockers responded in the fourth. Katzfey singled and
Luke Ritter walked to lead off the inning. With one out,
Alec Bohm singled to drive in Katzfey and
Trey Vickers' safety squeeze scored Ritter to tie the score at two. Troutwine followed with an RBI double that gave the Shockers a 3-2 lead.
Trevor MCutchin's home run tied the score at three in the fifth and the Golden Eagles added another run on an RBI triple from Dylan Snypes for a 4-3 lead.
Back-to-back home runs from Sam Grellner and Brent Williams increased the ORU lead to 6-3 in the sixth inning, but the Shockers used an RBI single from Katzfey to cut the lead to 6-4 in the seventh.
The Golden Eagles added an unearned run in the seventh for the final 7-4 score.
The Shockers are next in action on Wednesday, March 22 when they host Sacramento State at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
