BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 6 LSU swept the three-game series with a 9-2 win over Wichita State in game three.
Greyson Jenista went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while
Alex Jackson went 2-for-4.
Starter
Zach Lewis went three innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Tigers wasted no time jumping on the board in the first. Kramer Robertson and Cole Freeman both singled and after a stolen base, Antoine Duplantis followed with a two-run single for a 2-0 lead. With the bases loaded and two outs, Chris Reid came through with an infield single to put LSU up 3-0.
LSU used three hits and a Shocker error to score two more runs in the third and added two more in the fourth and two in the fifth for a 9-0 lead.
The Shockers broke up the shutout in the seventh inning.
Dayton Dugas and
Luke Ritter both walked to lead off the inning and advanced on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Greyson Jenista singled up the middle to drive in both runners to cut the lead to 9-2.
The Shockers are next in action on March 14 when they host Northern Colorado at 3 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
