WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State earned its second win of the day over Grand Canyon with a 4-0 win.
Alex Jackson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while
Greyson Jenista and
Dayton Dugas each went 1-for-4 with a RBI.
Starter
Cody Tyler went six shutout innings and allowed three hits with two walks and a career-high nine strikeouts.
The Shockers got on the board in the bottom of the second.
Gunnar Troutwine led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Alex Jackson singled up the middle to drive in Troutwine for a 1-0 lead.
WSU added to the lead in the fourth. Troutwine was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a groundout.
Travis Young was hit by a pitch and Jackson followed with a single to centerfield to score Troutwine for a 2-0 lead. With two outs,
Greyson Jenista singled to drive in Young and
Dayton Dugas' RBI single gave the Shockers a 4-0 lead.
The Shockers and Lopes wrap up the series on Sun.,Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
