WICHITA, Kan. – Willie Schwanke threw 6.2 shutout innings to lead Wichita State to a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon in game one of a three-game series.
Schwanke allowed just three singles with two walks and five strikeouts.
Greyson Jenista and
Luke Ritter each had a double for the Shockers, while
Dayton Dugas,
Trey Vickers and
Josh DeBacker each had a single.
The Shockers scored the lone run in the bottom of the first.
Greyson Jenista led off with a double and moved to third on a Lopes error. Jenista scored a double play ball from
Alec Bohm to put WSU up 1-0.
The Shockers and Lopes will play game two at 3:15 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 25 and finish the series at 1 p.m. on Sun., Feb. 26.
