AUSTIN, Texas -- The Wichita State men's tennis team defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-1, this morning at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center.

AMCC (4-3) won a tight doubles point, as Cagatay Soke/Paul Cook defeated Miroslav Herzan/Murkel Dellien 6-3 in the second flight. Jocelyn Devilliers/Marius Frosa earned a hard-fought 7-5 win over Mitchell Cook/Max Ilic in the third flight. Kevin Bettendroffer/William Motte responded with their own 7-5 win over Eddie Stoica/Haru Inoue in the top flight to give the Islanders the point.

In singles play, Dellien notched the first point for Wichita State with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Gonzalo Achondo in the sixth flight. Inoue won his top flight matchup with Bettendroffer 6-1, 6-3, while Stoica beat Mottet 6-4, 6-1 in the fourth flight, bringing both the Shockers' singles records to 15-8, the most wins so far this year on the team. Frosa added a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Carlos Pedrosa to seal the dual for Wichita State. Devilliers led Cook 6-1, 4-2 and Herzan trailed Soke 6-7, 3-2, but both matches went unfinished.

Wichita State improves to 4-4 with the win. The Shockers will face No. 7 Texas tomorrow at 4:30 p.m., also at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center.
