Tulsa currently leads the Havoc in the Heartland Rivalry Series 12-3. Wichita State picked up three points for the volleyball win on Oct. 15, while Tulsa picked up six points for finishing higher in the men's cross country championship and six points for finishing higher in the women's cross country championship. The winner of the Nov. 17 volleyball match will earn three points.

Lehman Named American Player of the Week

Abbie Lehman has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 6-12. Lehman, a senior middle blocker from Newton, Kan., led the Shockers to a 2-0 weekend with two road wins in American play. She averaged 4.00 kills, 0.17 aces, 0.67 digs, 2.00 blocks and 5.25 points per set, while hitting .457. In the three-set win at ECU, she had a match-high 12 kills and hit .524. She also had three digs and three blocks. In the three-set win at Cincinnati, she had a match-high 12 kills and hit .400. She also added one ace, one dig and a match-high nine blocks. During the win over Cincinnati, she became just the second Shocker to collect 500 career total blocks.

Emily Hiebert continue to climb the Shocker career records list for kills, blocks and assists. Lehman is now fifth in career kills with 1,302 and 60 more to move into fourth place. She is second in career total blocks with 502 and needs three more to move into first place. She is also second in career block assists with 440 and needs 20 more to move into first place. Hiebert is second in assists with 4,755 and needs 65 more to move into first place.
Lehman Finalist for Senior CLASS Award

Abbie Lehman has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award, which honors athletes who excel on and off the court. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Lehman, a middle blocker from Newton, Kan., is a three-time AVCA All-American and three-time first team all-conference selection. This season, she is averaging 3.60 kills and 1.27 blocks per set, while hitting .426. She ranks 11th nationally in hitting percentage and 44th in blocks per set. She has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.81 and earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science in May and is currently working on her master's degree.

Abbie Lehman collected her 500th career total block in the win at Cincinnati. She is just the second player in school history to reach that milestone. She trails former Shocker Elizabeth Meyers who had 505 total blocks from 2002-05.

Emily Hiebert collected her 100th career service ace in the win at Cincinnati. She is now the only player in school history to have at least 400 kills, 4,000 assists, 100 service aces and 1,000 digs.

Wichita State is off to a 16-0 start in American Athletic Conference play. It is the best conference start for the Shockers since 2008, when they went 18-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference. It is the third-best conference start overall behind the 18-0 starts in 2008 and 2005.
Winning Streak
Wichita State has now won 16-straight matches, which ranks as the fourth-best winning streak in school history. The school record is 29 set in 2008. Second place is 26 in 2005 and third place is 19 in 2007.

Mikaela Raudsepp collected her 1,000th career kill in the three-set win over Temple. She is the 13th play in Shocker history to reach the 1,000-kill mark.

With two wins over the weekend, Wichita State improved to 22-3 overall and 14-0 in The American. WSU now has 15-straight 20-win seasons.

Two Shockers had 20 or more kills in the five-set win at UCF on Oct. 27.

Chris Lamb collected his 400th career win on Oct. 15 against Tulsa. He is now 400-159 in his 18-year head coaching career.
Hiebert Reaches 1,000 Digs
Senior setter
Emily Hiebert recorded her 1,000th career dig in the three-set win at Houston on Oct. 8. She is just the fourth setter in school history to reach that milestone joining Yu-Chyi Yang (1,165), Kori Rosenkranz (1,110) and Michele Hallagin (1,110).
Long Set
No. 19 Iowa State beat Wichita State 37-35 in set two of their Sept. 17 match in Wichita. It was the most points scored in a set for the Shockers during the 25-point rally scoring era (2008-present). WSU scored 33 against Bowling Green in 2014, 32 against Oklahoma in 2008 and 31 against Northern Iowa in 2009.
4,000 Assists
Senior setter
Emily Hiebert recorded her 4,000th career assist on Sept. 9 against Cal Poly. She now has 4,030 assists and is just the fourth player in school history to reach the 4,000-assist mark. She joins Mary Elizabeth Hooper (4,820), Michele Hallagin (4,476) and Kori Rosenkranz (4,313).

Abbie Lehman collected her 1,000th career kill on Sept. 1 at IUPUI. She is just the 12th Shocker to record 1,000 career kills. She now has 1,030 for her career.

Tabitha Brown collected her 500th career kill in the win over ETSU on Aug. 26. Brown had 161 kills in her freshman season at Alabama and 325 as a sophomore at Wichita State.

Giorgia Civita returns to the team in 2017. Civita is from Milan, Italy and is just the seventh international player to play for the Shockers. Others include Kim Henry (1989-92) from Canada, Swee Ng (1992) from Malaysia, Marsha Van Cedar (1994-95) from Canada, Tomoko Matsuda (1996) from Japan, Lucia Zhanje (2000) from Zimbabwe and Shimen Fayad (2014- 15) from Canada. One other international player was on the roster in 1992, but never played in a match (Tamie Bearup, Italy).
