WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State volleyball dropped a three-set decision to No. 22 Kansas Tuesday night at Charles Koch Arena, falling 25-17, 25-17, 25-12.
 
The Shockers (3-7) battled throughout the opening set, trading points with the Jayhawks early before Kansas used a late push to take a 25-17 advantage. Wichita State hit -.088 in the opening frame, while Kansas finished at .200.
 
Wichita State kept the second set close in the early stages before Kansas created separation midway through the frame. The Jayhawks closed out the set, 25-17, to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
 
Kansas carried the momentum into the third set, jumping out to an early advantage. The Shockers continued to fight, but the Jayhawks pulled away late to complete the sweep, 25-12.
 
Jenna Cubbage led Wichita State with five kills and added four digs, while Danielle Moore finished with four kills. Addie Oeth dished nine assists, while Jordan Heatherly had eight, and Gabi Maas posted a team-high 11 digs. Grace Hett added eight digs, and Oeth contributed seven digs.
 
Kansas was led by Taylor Stanley, who recorded 15 kills on .481 hitting and finished with 17.0 points. Reese Ptacek added 10 kills while hitting .571.
 
The Jayhawks hit .299 as a team and held Wichita State to -.023 hitting. Kansas also recorded 11.0 team blocks to Wichita State's 2.0.
 
Wichita State travels to Cedar Falls, Iowa for two matches against Northern Iowa on Sept. 18 and 19.
