TULSA, Okla. - Junior Marius Frosa and sophomore Murkel Dellien gave Johannes Ingildsen and Alfredo Perez of Florida all they could handle Friday at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa.
 
Frosa and Dellien, representing Wichita State in the round of 16 double main draw, took to the court to face the No. 5 duo of Ingildsen and Perez of Florida Friday afternoon. The Gator tandem took the first set from the Shockers, 6-1. Wichita State battled back in the second set and came away with a 6-3 win, after jumping to a 4-1 lead. Frosa and Dellien were in control in the tiebreaker, taking a 4-1 lead. After tying it at 6-6, Florida ran away and took the tiebreaker, 10-6.
 
The Shocker tandem of Frosa and Dellien, who transferred to Wichita State last January, showed great resiliency in the match after losing the first set 6-1. Head coach Danny Bryan believes they can gain great confidence in a match of this caliber.

"Unfortunately Murkel and Marius weren't able to get the win today, but I think they can gain confidence in the fact that they were able to go head to head with the No. 5 team in the country," Bryan said.
 
Frosa went up against No. 31 ranked Aron Hiltzik of Illinois in the consolation main draw early Friday, falling short 6-3, 6-1. Frosa showed what he is capable of, after making the main draw for just the second time since 1994. Frosa knocked off No. 83 Felix Corwin of Minnesota, along with Matthew Lord of Virginia and Michael Weindl of Old Dominion. He was tested in the main draw, suffering losses to Michael Geerts of Arizona State and Hiltzik. Geerts is ranked on the Newcomer list put out by the ITA.
 
"Overall, it was a really good week for our program," Bryan said.
 
The Shockers will look to continue their success in the fall slate, with a trip to the ITA Central Regional in Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 19-23.
