MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Wichita State men's tennis team ended its run at the ITA Central Regional in Minneapolis Sunday.

Three student-athletes took the court for the Shockers, in both quarterfinal and semifinal action.

In singles, Junior
Marius Frosas' run came to an end, falling to Toby Boyer of Nebraska in three sets. In the first set, Frosa was down 3-1, and fought back to take five of six games and take the first set 6-4. In the second set, Boyer controlled the match and won 6-3. The Big Ten doubles champion and singles runner-up a season ago took the third set 6-2 to defeat Frosa. Frosa compiled a 4-1 record at the regional, and moved his record to 8-4 this season in fall play. Two losses came against highly ranked players, according to ITA.

The doubles tandem of
Miroslav Herzan and
Andrea Caligiana ended a great run at the regional as well, going 3-1, before losing to Dublinksi/Theodorou of Oklahoma State in semifinal action of doubles play, 6-2, 6-2.

For the tournament, Junior
Eddie Stoica finished 2-1, with wins over Leardini of oral Roberts and Bertsch of Oklahoma. He teamed up with Frosa in doubles play, and they also went 2-1, including a huge victory over No. 25 ranked Cash and Hammond of Oklahoma State.

Junior Caligiana compiled a 2-1 record as well at the ITA Central Regional, with wins over Camden of Tulsa and Sprinkle of Minnesota in consolation play.

The Shockers will next be in action Nov. 4-12 in Niceville , Fla. for a Pro Futures event as well as a trip to Las Vegas to take part in the Easley Memorial Championships on the campus of UNLV, Nov. 3-5.
