TULSA, Okla. - The Wichita State men's tennis team lost their spring season opening dual to Tulsa by a score of 4-3 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa, who are not ranked in the top 25 but are receiving votes, took the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. WSU's top duo of Haru Inoue and Miroslav Herzan picked up the lone Shockers doubles win, defeating Okkie Kellerman and Dominic Bechard 6-2.  Majed Kilani and Or Ram-Harel beat Jocelyn Devilliers and Murkel Dellien 6-4, while Jarod Hing and Daniel Santos topped Eddie Stoica and Jan Poboril also by a score of 6-4.

Marius Frosa, Devilliers and Stoica picked up singles wins for Wichita State. Frosa - in his first action as a Shocker since transferring this month - defeated Bechard 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles matchup. Devilliers beat Kellerman 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Stoica topped Mitchell Pritchard 6-3, 7-5.
Ram-Harel defeated Inoue in the top singles matchup 6-2, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2. Ram-Harel is currently ranked No. 42 in ITA's singles rankings. Kilani beat Herzan 6-3, 6-2 while Santos defeated Vitor Mendes 6-2, 6-0.

This Saturday's dual against Creighton has been postponed due to the weekend weather forecast posing travel risks for the Bluejays. First-year head coach Danny Bryan will seek his first win as a head coach at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 27-28 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Shockers will face Utah State on the 27th, and will face TCU or Pacific on the 28th depending on results.
