SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Wichita State committed just six errors in three sets to sweep Texas State at the Roadrunners Roundup. The Shockers won by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-11.
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with nine kills, while
Abbie Lehman had eight kills and
Mikaela Raudsepp had seven kills.
Emily Hiebert had 30 assists and
Giorgia Civita had 16 digs.
A kill by
Mikaela Raudsepp gave the Shockers an early 4-2 lead in the first set. Back to-back blocks by WSU increased the lead to 10-4 and two kills from
Jody Larson pushed the lead to 12-4. A Larson service ace made the score 15-5, but the Bobcats answered with a 3-0 run to pull within 15-8. Kills from
Abbie Lehman and Larson put WSU up 19-10 and the Shockers went on to win the set 25-17.
The Shockers raced out to a 7-1 lead in the second set, but the Bobcats pulled to within 13-10 with a kill. Lehman's block put WSU up 19-14 and the Shockers won the set 25-17.
A
Tabitha Brown kill put the Shockers up 8-3 in the third set and a kill from
Katy Dudzinski increased the lead to 11-5. A block by Brown and Lehman made the score 15-7 and WSU won the set 25-11 after back-to-back service aces from
Jordan Roberts.
The Shockers wrap up the tournament on Sat., Sept. 17 against host UTSA at 12 p.m.
