NORMAN, Okla. – Shortly after winning their first NCAA Regional game in school history, the Wichita State softball team took the field against Ole Miss in the Shockers' second elimination game of the day. Wichita State lost the game 4-0 to end the season for the Shockers.

Jenni Brooks got the start this game, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing four runs on just four hits. Katie Malone entered the game with two outs in the fifth and pitched 2.1 innings, finishing the game and allowing no runs on two hits.

Pitchers for both teams came out firing to start the game, only allowing one hit a piece through the first three innings.

Without a ball leaving the infield in the top of the fourth, the Rebels were able to scratch across a run on an infield single to take a 1-0 lead.

Without collecting a hit, Ole Miss was able to get the bases loaded with two outs. A single into right field, pushed another run across to make the score, 2-0. A walk to the next batter brought another run in to make the Rebels lead, 3-0.

Another infield single with the bases loaded pushed the Ole Miss lead to 4-0.

After a double by Laurie Anne Derrico, and a walk to Kelli Spring, Cacy Williams grounded out to third to move the runners to second and third, but a fly-out by Brittany Fortner ended the inning, keeping the score at 4-0.

Malone got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh, but the Shockers went down in order in the bottom of the seventh, to take the loss, 4-0.

With the loss, the Shockers end their season with a record of 36-21, after attending their first NCAA Regional since 2005 and winning their first NCAA Regional game in school history.
