Photo GalleryWICHITA, Kan. Wichita State fell to the Bradley Braves 8-4 after the Shockers were unable to rally against Bradley's four-run ninth inning.
Dayton Dugas led all Shockers, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Gunnar Troutwine went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a home run.
Bradley took an early lead in the third inning. DJ Gasso singled to left and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Luke Mangieri's single drove in Gasso to put the Braves up 1-0.
The Shockers answered in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs on four hits.
Tanner Kirk reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to second on
Trey Vickers' single to right, and scored on
Mikel Mucha's single to left.
Greyson Jenista hit a single to center field to bring in Vickers, giving WSU a 2-1 lead.
The Braves retook the lead 3-2 in the fifth when Paul Solka hit a single to center field, bringing in Brady Wilkin and Mangieri, who reached on an error and a walk respectively.
Troutwine hit a line drive to left to lead off the sixth inning. Dugas drove in Troutwine on a fly out to deep right field to tie the game 3-3.
Evan Gruener doubled down the right field line to start the eighth and scored on Ian Kristan's single to right, giving the Braves a 4-3 lead.
WSU tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth when Troutwine led off the inning with a solo home run just over the left field wall.
Bradley started the ninth with a walk and fielder's choice bunt, allowing both runners on base. Tyler Leffler cleared the bases with a homer to left field, and Shadid hit a solo home run with two outs for the final score of 8-4.
The two teams wrap up the series on Sun., April 24 at 1 p.m.
