Photo GalleryWICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State Shockers hosted the Oklahoma Sooners at Eck Stadium on Tuesday evening. After falling behind early, the Shockers couldn't complete the comeback and fell by a final score of 15 – 7.
The Sooners put the game away early by scoring three runs in the first, then followed that up by scoring eight in the third and three in the fourth. This gave them a 14 – 0 lead after only four complete innings.
In the bottom of the fifth the Shockers came to life. They scored a total of six runs to only bring the deficit to 14 – 6. The inning was highlighted by a
Jordan Boyer two-run triple, an
Alec Bohm RBI double, and a two-run single from
Luke Ritter.
The Sooners and Shockers swapped runs in the sixth and eighth, respectively, to bring the final score to 15 – 7.
Boyer led the offense by going 3-for-4, with a triple and two RBI.
Luke Ritter came off the bench in the middle innings and went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Connor Lungwitz got the start and got his first loss of the season after only working 2+ innings.
Reagan Biechler had a solid performance out of the bullpen by throwing 1.2 innings with no hits and two strikeouts.
The Shockers will be back in action this Fri., April 15, at 6:30 pm at Eck Stadium against No. 16 Missouri State.
