Box Score (PDF)EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville scored five runs in the third inning on the way to an 11-1 win over Wichita State in game three of the series.
Mikel Mucha went 2-for-4, while
Tanner Kirk went 2-for-3.
Starter
Zach Lewis went four innings and gave up five earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
The Aces broke through in the bottom of the third. With one out, Travis Tokarek was hit by a pitch and Jeff Christen walked. With two outs, Eric McKibban singled to drive in one run and Christen scored from second on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 2-0. Trey Hair walked and Boomer Synek followed with a three-run home run to give the Aces a 5-0 lead.
UE added an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Tokarek walked and moved to second on a passed ball. He score on a single from Christen to give the Aces a 6-0 lead. Hair's homer in the fifth increased the lead to 7-0.
Greyson Jenista led off the sixth with a double off the right field wall and scored on a single from
Gunnar Troutwine to cut the lead to 7-1.
UE added four in the seventh for the 11-1 run-rule win.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., April 12 when they host Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
