Box Score (PDF)NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma scored two runs in the first and two in the third to defeat Wichita State 4-2 on Tuesday evening.
Mikel Mucha went 3-for-5 for the Shockers, while
Luke Ritter went 1-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
Starter
Clayton McGinness went two innings and gave up two runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Reliever
Cody Tyler took the loss. He pitched four innings and gave up two runs on one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
OU's Sheldon Neuse opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Steele Walker followed with a double and Alex Wise singled him in to put the Sooners up 2-0.
The Shockers answered in the top of the second. With two outs,
Gunnar Troutwine was hit by a pitch and
Greyson Jenista,
Josh DeBacker and
Trey Vickers all walked to score Troutwine to cut the lead to 2-1.
WSU tied it in the top of the third.
Mikel Mucha led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball.
Luke Ritter followed with a double to right field to score Mucha and tie the score at two.
OU went back up in the bottom of the third. After a leadoff walk, Neuse tripled to right-center to put the Sooners up 3-2. Walker then followed with an RBI ground out to increase the lead to 4-2.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 11 at No. 23 Cal State Fullerton at 9 p.m. Central time.
