WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State men's tennis went 2-0 Wednesday with a 4-1 win over Washburn and a 4-0 win vs. UMKC to snap a two-match skid.

The Shockers ran their record to 9-6 on the season with the doubleheader sweep at Genesis Health Club.
 
"We had a few days off before these two matches and we started off a little slow today," said head coach Brad Louderback. "We started to pick it up as the match went along vs. Washburn and then we played pretty strong against UMKC to finish the day."

Wichita State didn't get off to the best of starts in the match vs. Washburn. The Shockers, who are usually very strong in doubles, dropped the doubles point to begin play. Washburn won on courts No. 1 and 2 by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Vitor Mendes and Eddie Stoica defeated Will Agritelley and Trey Horton at No. 3, 6-3, for WSU's lone win in doubles.

Sergio de Vilchez got the Shockers on the board with a 6-2, 6-0, win against Washburn's David Clausen at No. 4. Austin Williams then made it 2-1 Shockers after his straight sets win at No. 5 over Will Agritelley, 6-3, 6-0.

WSU clinched the win with Haru Inoue and Jocelyn Devilliers' victories at Nos. 3 and 2. Inoue downed Blake Hunter, 7-6, 6-1, and Devillilers fought off Matt Barlow, 6-4, 6-4.

In the second match of the doubleheader, WSU was back to its normal self in doubles. The Shockers took the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Devilliers and Tin Ostojic returned to their winning ways with a 6-3 win over Airam Castellano and Mike Psarros. Inoue and Miroslav Herzan defeated UMKC's Uldis Gaismins and Amaury Navette, 6-2.

The Shockers finished off the Kangaroos in Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles to complete the 4-0 win. 

Ostojic took care of business at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-1, win over Castellano and Devilliers made quick work of Gaismins at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1. Sergio de Vilchez put the finishing touches on the match by taking down Vinh Pham, 6-2, 6-2.

The Shockers head south to the Lone Star State to face SMU on Friday and UT-Arlington Saturday.
