After the Hawks scored two in the top of the second, the Shockers answered back in the bottom half when they executed back-to-back bunt singles, then
Tanner Kirk put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. The sacrifice worked as
Mikel Mucha then got the sacrifice fly to left field to score
Dayton Dugas.
Travis Young then promptly stole third base and
Luke Ritter lined a single up the middle to give the Shockers another two run lead, 4 – 2.
In the third, the Shockers padded their lead and never looked back from there.

Trey Vickers and increase the lead to 7 – 2.
Gunnar Troutwine came through for the Shockers in the fifth. With the bases loaded he hit a two run single. They then loaded the bases again on a walk and
Trey Vickers hit a sacrifice fly to center to score another run. A wild pitch then plated the fourth run of the inning and gave the Shockers an 11 – 2 lead.
Zach Reding and
Ryan Tinkham hit back-to-back doubles in the sixth, plating one run a piece. Jenista then hit a "no doubter" to right center that was a three-run shot. This resulted in five runs in the inning and a 16 -3 lead. Both teams were shut out from there.
