CENTENNIAL, Colo. - No. 67 Wichita State fell in another tightly-contested battle this time coming to the hands of No. 52 Denver, 4-3, Friday evening at Lifetime Fitness.

The Shockers dropped the doubles point for the first time in the last three matches, as Denver took courts No. 2 and 3. In the point-clinching match, Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue fell in a tough one vs. Zach Fryer and Diogo Rocha, 7-6.

Denver claimed the first singles point from court No. 4 and Alex Gasson who defeated Sergio de Vilchez in straight sets to take a 2-0 lead in the match. It wouldn't be long before WSU got on the board. Herzan handled No. 45 Diogo Rocha in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, to cut the deficit to 2-1. The win for Herzan marked his second victory over a ranked opponent this season.

Ostojic then tied the match up at 2-2 with his win at No. 1 over Craig, 6-4, 6-3. Ostojic is now 5-2 in dual matches this season, and has won four straight singles matches.

The Pioneers jumped back in front following David Fox's win on court No. 3 over Devilliers, 6-4, 6-4. Needing a win to stay alive, WSU got a big one from Inoue at No. 5. Inoue defeated Jesse Ruder-Hook, 6-3, 7-6(3), to knot the match up at 3-3.

In the final match of the night, Eddie Stoica and Zach Fryer put together a fantastic night-cap. The two competitors went back-and-forth the entire match, which last three sets. Fryer won the first set, 7-6, and led 6-5 in the second set before Stoica made the comeback to win 7-6. In the third and final set both players traded leads up until Fryer came back from being down 4-3 to go up 5-4 and eventually winning the set, 6-4.
