WICHITA, Kan. - No. 65 Wichita State fell to No. 66 Iowa, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.

The match for Wichita State marked the sixth time in 10 matches to start the spring season that the final score was 4-3, only to see the Shockers come up on the wrong side in five of those matches. WSU drops to 7-6 on the season, while the Hawkeyes moved to 5-2 on the season.

For the eighth time in those 10 matches, the Shockers have now won the doubles point. Iowa got a win on No. 3 with a 6-4 win from Nils Hallestrand and Robin Haden, but WSU came back to win on courts No. 1 and 2 in the tiebreak. No. 38 Jocelyn Devilliers and Tin Ostojic defeated Jake Jacoby and Lefteris Theodorou, 7-6. In the clincher, No. 22 Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue won 10-8 in the tiebreak over Dominic Patrick and Josh Silverstein.

Ostojic gave the Shockers a 2-0 advantage with his dominating win over Patrick in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Ostojic was on a mission after falling in yesterday's match-clincher in three sets to Georgia State's Jannis Koeke.

Theodorou cut into the deficit for Iowa with a straight sets win at No. 2 over Herzan, 6-1, 6-2.

Inoue defeated Haden in No. 5 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-1, to put the Shockers ahead 3-1 in the match, and in need of just one more win to clinch the match. The Hawkeyes were not going to make it easy on the Shockers though. Silverstein downed Devilliers, 6-2, 6-4, to keep the Hawkeyes alive.

Iowa tied the match at 3-3 after Jake Jacoby won in three sets over Eddie Stoica, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

For the second straight day it would come down to the final singles match to decide the winner. Today it was up to No. 4 singles. Jonas Larsen came through for Iowa with a three-set victory over Sergio de Vilchez, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
