WICHITA, Kan. - No. 65 Wichita State dropped its first home match of the season with a 4-3 loss to Georgia State Saturday afternoon at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.

Despite winning the first set in all six singles matches, Wichita State could not put away Georgia State. WSU dropped to 7-5 overall and GSU ran its record to 5-3.

The doubles point was up for grabs after Georgia State won on court No. 3 and Wichita State took court No. 2 to begin the match. No. 38 Tin Ostojic and Jocelyn Devilliers found a way to clinch the point with a 7-5 win at No. 1 over Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou. No. 22 Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue came back from trailing 4-2 to win their match at No. 2, 6-4, over Jack MacFarlane and Zack Kennedy. Sergio de Vilchez and Eddie Stoica fell at No. 3 to Jannis Koeke and Felipe Jaworski, 6-2.

Wichita State took a 2-0 lead after Devilliers rolled to a straight sets win over Andrukhou, 6-3, 6-1. The Panthers got on the scoreboard with a three-set win from Kennedy over Herzan, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Georgia State then tied the match at 2-2 following Acuna's win at No. 4 singles over de Vilchez in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. For a matter of seconds, GSU led 3-2 coming on the heels of MacFarlane's defeat of Inoue at No. 5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Shockers would immediately tie the match at 3-3 thanks to Stoica defeating Jaworski in another three-set match, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.

The match would come down to No. 1 singles. The first two sets would go to the tiebreak in both sets with Ostojic winning the first one, but Koeke taking the second. In the third and final set, Koeke won 6-0 to clinch the win for GSU.
