CARBONDALE, Ill. – Dani Mostrom had 18 digs to lead Wichita State to a 3-0 win at Southern Illinois. The Shockers won by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-18.
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with nine kills, while
Emily Hiebert had 30 assists. Mostrom led the Shockers with 18 digs and
Jody Larson added eight kills and 10 digs.
A kill by Lehman gave the Shockers an early 7-3 lead in the first set. A 3-0 run increased the Shocker lead to 12-6 and kills from Larson and Brown made it 19-11. WSU won the set 25-15 on a kill by Larson.
The Salukis jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set, but the Shockers answered with two kills from
Tabitha Brown and one from
Abbie Lehman to cut the lead to 7-6. A 4-0 Shocker run gave WSU a 10-8 lead and the Shockers increased it to 17-11 on a kill from
Mikaela Raudsepp. Kills from Brown and Lehman gave the Shockers a 25-14 win.
The third set went back and forth until two-straight aces from Hiebert put the Shockers up 14-10. A Hiebert kill and block increased the lead to 20-15 and WSU won the set 25-18 on a kill from
Katy Dudzinski.
The Shockers wrap up the regular-season on Sat., Nov. 19 at Evansville at 7 p.m.
