Live Scoring/VideoWICHITA, Kan. – Fresh off the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, the Wichita State men's tennis team returns to action this weekend for a pair of matches in Tulsa, Okla. The Shockers will face Purdue on Saturday at 4 p.m. and close out vs. No. 23 Tulsa on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT.
Last Time OutWichita State is coming off a 1-1 showing at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 23-24. WSU fell to No. 9 Ohio State in the opening match, 4-0, but came back to beat No. 51 South Carolina on Sunday in the consolation match, 4-2. Against South Carolina, the Shockers won the doubles point courtesy of wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.

Jocelyn Devilliers defeated USC's Alex Fennell and Thomas Mayronne, 6-2, and No. 34
Miroslav Herzan and
Haru Inoue downed Sam Swank and Harrison O'Keefe in a nail-biter, 7-6(6).
In singles, Ostojic, Herzan and freshman
Eddie Stoica collected wins to clinch the win. Ostojic defeated No. 116 Alex Fennell, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Herzan won in straight sets over No. 65 Harrison O'Keefe, 6-4, 6-1. Leading 3-2, WSU needed one more win to clinch and they got it from Stoica, as he defeated Wood Benton, 6-4, 6-4.
Wichita State NotablesThe Shockers moved up eight spots in this week's Oracle/ITA rankings to No. 63. Herzan and Inoue represent Wichita State in the ITA doubles rankings at No. 34. The duo is now 13-2 on the season and has three wins over doubles team ranked in the top 30.
About No. 23 TulsaThe Golden Hurricane come into the weekend with a 3-1 record having wins over Oral Roberts (7-0), Cal (4-3) and Notre Dame (4-3). Their lone loss came vs. Northwestern, 4-1. Tulsa is represented in the ITA singles rankings with Or Ram-Harel coming in at No. 51.
About PurduePurdue currently sports a 3-1 record on the season as well. The Boilermakers have defeated IUPUI (7-0), Toledo (7-0) and Eastern Kentucky (4-0), while falling to Western Michigan, 4-2.
Up NextWichita State heads out west for matches vs. Denver and Air Force next weekend. The Shockers will face Denver on Friday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. CT and Air Force on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. before coming back home for a six-match homestand.
