Press ConferenceWICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State volleyball team defeated Indiana State 3-1 to open up conference play at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers rebounded after dropping the first set to take the next three in a row by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-22.

Abbie Lehman led the Shockers with 14 kills and seven block assists. Sophomore
Emily Hiebert had a match-high 46 assists and also had two service aces.
Wichita State hit .222 in the first set, and struggled to overcome seven attacking errors to lose the set 25-22. Indiana State had four blocks in the set.
Lehman had five kills as the Shockers won the second set 25-23 to even the match up. Indiana State committed 6 attacking errors and hit .200 in the set. There were 13 ties and seven lead changes throughout the set.
Indiana State hit .188, while the Shockers hit .345 in the third set to go along with four blocks to take the set 25-18 and give WSU the 2-1 advantage.
Neither team hit over .205 in the fourth set, but nine attacking errors by the Sycamores helped WSU take the set, and the match, by a score of 25-22. The Shockers had four blocks again in the set.
WSU improves to 10-5 (1-0). The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Sept. 26 against Illinois State at 7 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena. It will be "Jam the Gym" night, where tickets will be "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" and the first 2,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
